More about me...
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, followed by an Honours degree in Biokinetics. I went on to earn a scholarship to do my Master’s degree, where I specialised in resilience in older adult women, with a particular focus on the role of exercise in enhancing physical and psychological resilience.
Following my studies, I worked at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, gaining valuable experience in applied sports and rehabilitation science. I later immigrated to New Zealand with my husband, settling in Blenheim, where I have since established multiple successful practices and built an extensive and loyal client base.
I am known for my thorough, hands-on approach to treatment, with a strong emphasis on identifying and addressing the root causes of injuries, rather than simply managing symptoms. My work is driven by a commitment to delivering comprehensive, high-quality care, particularly in a healthcare environment where I believe deeper, more individualised treatment is often needed.

Sarah
Ive been seeing Emma for needling since my pregnancy with my first child 4 years ago for all the pregnancy related aches and pains/injuries and then through my second one too. She has helped me with hip injuries, shoulder injuries, back aches, head aches and general tightness. She is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable and professional. I can't recommend her treatments enough

I went to see Emma after a recommendation for a problem I thought I had. Turned out it wasn't what I thought it was. Emma knows her stuff and she fixed me in one session. She is a miracle worker. I would highly recommend her especially if you think you have sciatica. I cant speak of her more highly. Even if you don't like needles, don't let this put you off. It doesn't hurt! Thanks Emma. :)

Emma is the best professional providing dry needling in town! I have tried everything—osteopathy, chiropractic care, physiotherapy, and multiple dry needling professionals for my neck and back injury. I only got results with Emma due to her strong work ethic, strong determination, and vast knowledge of the human body. She rocks!
FAQ's
Is Dry Needling the same as Accupuncture?
This question is asked often. The answer is a big NO. Dry needling has its roots in Western medicine, whereas acupuncture originates from Eastern practices. Additionally, dry needling targets trigger points in muscles rather than following meridian lines.
Can I have dry needling if Im pregnant?
We usually avoid any dry needling in the first trimester so please disclose even the possibility of being pregnant. It is safe in second and third trimester.
What are the side effects of Dry Needling?
Mostly just muscle soreness 24-72 hours afterwards, bruising is quite common and just a feeling of fatigue for the first day.
What is Biokinetics?
A medically recognized health profession that uses scientifically based physical activity and exercise to improve physical function, rehabilitate injuries, and manage chronic diseases.
How do I know where to find you within Noel Templetons?
You walk into reception and then walk past the reception straight down the corridor where you will see my signage outside my room.
Are you ACC Accredited?
No, I am not. Working privately keeps me on my toes
to produce results and not just treat you like a number.
Can I self refer or do I need a referral from a health professional?
You can self refer or be referred by a health professional. It's always easier if you ask your referee to email me some notes etc. to make the process seamless.
What forms of payments do we have?
I have an EftPos Machine with surcharges for Paywave and Credit Cards
